Editor’s note : André Thomas, who leads game design classes at the Texas A&M [Department of Visualization] (http://viz.arch.tamu.edu) , proposes that video games should be a central part of education because they boost engagement and make learning fun.

Thomas, who made the case for game-based education in an Austin Business Journal article he penned, also heads [Triseum] (https://triseum.com) , a Bryan-based video game design company.

Triseum developed and brought to market an art history and calculus game created by students and faculty in Texas A&M’s [Learning Interactive Visualization Experience Lab] (http://live.viz.tamu.edu) .

The games are already in use at Texas A&M and in universities throughout the U.S.
