“Celebration of Excellence,” the Texas A&M Department of Architecture’s annual juried competition and awards presentation, took place May 9, 2017 at The Icehouse on Main in downtown Bryan.

Texas A&M students' master plans addressing urban flooding and crime, unintended effects of gentrification, and other environmental and societal issues earned top honors from the Texas Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.

A glimpse into nature’s life cycle captured on video by Carol LaFayette, Texas A&M professor of visualization, earned a prestigious 2018 Global Independent Film Award recognizing excellence in environmental filmmaking.

Galen Newman, a Texas A&M landscape architecture professor, is editor of the Landscape Research Record, a prestigious scholarly journal published by the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, where he also serves as vice president for research and creative scholarship.

An image investigating the symbiosis of art, drawn by Alejandro Borges, a member of the Texas A&M architecture faculty, is one of 75 pieces chosen from 960 entries by leading art curators to appear in the prestigious Fun House 2018 exhibit in Poughkeepsie, New York.

For making Texas A&M a more inviting place for minorities, third-year urban planning student Carlo Chunga Pizarro received the 2018 Buck Weirus Spirit Award in a ceremony 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018 at the Association of Former Students Alumni Center.

For his innovative design reinventing a Canadian city’s downtown with a massive, 130,000-square-foot market and community space, Panwang Huo, a Texas A&M Master of Architecture student, placed third in the prestigious Lyceum Fellowship Competition.

By diligently working to remove barriers for people with disabilities on the Texas A&M campus, Bara Safarova, a doctoral student in architecture, was honored at the 2018 ACE Awards. an annual event recognizing the importance of campus diversity.

For outstanding contributions to the university, the community and his profession, College of Architecture graduate James M. Singleton IV ’66 has netted a Distinguished Alumnus Award, the highest honor bestowed upon former Texas A&M students, by The Association of Former Students in a surprise ceremony on March 28.

For exhibiting the highest standard of staff excellence, Dave Wentling, director of the Office of Student Services at the Texas A&M College of Architecture, will receive a 2018 Distinguished Achievement Award from The Association of Former Students.

For significant scholarly contributions in landscape architecture and urban planning, Robert Brown, a professor of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, was awarded the title of university professor emeritus by his former employer, The University of Guelph.

The myriad achievements of two former Texas A&M urban planning students have elevated them to the American Institute of Certified Planners’ College of Fellows, one of the profession’s highest honors.

Construction science students netted two first place honors at a February 19 undergraduate construction management competition in Dallas hosted by the Associated Schools of Construction and TEXO, a group of North and East Texas general contractors.

Charles Davis Smith ‘90, an architectural photographer who expertly weaves design training and camera skills into memorable images that illuminate a designer’s thoughts and vision, is Texas A&M’s newest member of the prestigious AIA College of Fellows.
