Jessie Ayres
A design for a tin box for [Fossil watches] (http://www.fossil.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/HomeView?langId=-1&storeId=12052&catalogId=25005&N=0) that was inspired by vintage plane ticket designs netted Texas A&M [undergraduate visualization] (http://viz.arch.tamu.edu/undergraduate/) student Jessie Ayers a third-place finish in a nationwide contest.
Ayers learned about the contest, commemorating the 30 th anniversary of Fossil, a watch and jewelry designer and manufacturer, just days before the deadline, crafting her submission for a few hours on three consecutive evenings.
A panel’s assessment of an entry’s creativity and illustration of the contest theme, “30 Years on the Open Road,” counted for 60 percent of each submission’s total score and an online vote counted for 40 percent.
Ayres’ design and color scheme were lauded by Donna Hajash, senior lecturer of visualization, who taught Ayres in graphic design classes that included branding, product design and visual messages.
"She's a hard worker and had a strong interest in design,” said Hajash.
