Artist Earnie Sherow uses images of domestic violence to spark debate and promote domestic tranquility in “Spoiled and Unspoiled,” an exhibit running Oct. 13 – Nov. 12, 2014 in the Wright Gallery at the Texas A&M College of Architecture.

Elementary school children are performing fun tasks designed to stoke their interest in science, technology, engineering and math and perhaps place them on a technology-oriented career path as part of a study led by Francis Quek, professor of visualization.

For her support of Brazos Valley African-American Museum projects, Cecilia Giusti, associate dean for outreach and diversity at the Texas A&M College of Architecture, was one of the honorees at a Jan. 24, 2014 appreciation banquet hosted by the museum.

Tasked with creating museum-quality models of two Brazos Valley African-American high schools that burned down in the 1960s, a group of Texas A&M graduate architecture students quickly discovered they'd have to resurrect the schools from former student's memories.

The Carver Community Center in Navasota, Texas, once the site of the town’s African-American high school, was the scene of “Navasota Neighborhood Day,” organized Nov. 23, 2013 by Master of Urban Planning students at Texas A&M University.

Urban issues affecting the Texas-Mexico border will be the focus of Dialogo on the Border, sponsored by the diversity council at the College of Architecture and the Dwight Look College of Engineering April 19-20 in Brownsville, Texas.

Lorena Téllez Toffer AIA, a 2004 Master of Architecture graduate, will be recognized May 19 at the American Institute of Architect’s National Convention in Washington, D.C. for her leadership as co-chair of AIA Dallas Latinos in Architecture (LiA) Committee, this year’s AIA Diversity Recognition Program honoree.

Texas A&M’s celebration of Black History Month began Feb. 1 with an exhibit of the acclaimed “Torchbearers” series of portraits by Robert Schiffhauer, associate professor of architecture, at the Langford Architecture Center’s Wright Gallery.
