Vanegas elected education member director for TSA

Improving communication among architecture practitioners, educators and students throughout Texas is a new priority for Jorge Vanegas, dean of Texas A&M’s College of Architecture, who was recently elected to a two-year term as the [Texas Society of Architects] (https://texasarchitects.org) ’ educator member director.

Additionally, Vanegas will advise the TSA's board of directors on issues regarding architectural education in Texas.

He joins James Nader of the Nader Design Group and Melina Cannon of Rhotenberry Wellen Architects, who were also elected as at-large directors of TSA at its 73rd annual convention held Oct. 18-20 in Austin. All the society’s directors are elected by its members.

Founded in 1939, the society is one of the nation's largest organizations for the architectural profession, with 17 regional chapters and over 6,000 members. The society is headquartered in Austin.

Vanegas, appointed dean of the college in 2009, maintains a scholarly focus on management, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship for the architecture, engineering and construction industries.

Recently named president of the [Pan American Academy of Engineering] (http://www.apingenieria.org/indexen.htm) ’s policy forum, Vanegas is also a member of numerous professional organizations including the [American Institute of Architects] (http://www.aia.org) and the [American Society of Civil Engineers] (http://www.asce.org) .
