Alum’s chiaroscuro image wins Rangefinder photography contest

Igor Kraguljac ’08, a former Master of Science in Visualization student at Texas A&M, won first prize in a national photography contest with “Angel,” an image from his chiaroschuro series, which explores a Renaissance era artistic technique.

Kraguljac entered the photo in the studio category of “Seeing the Light,” a national photo contest sponsored by Rangefinder magazine.

He won free registration for the 2012 Las Vegas convention of Rangefinder’s affiliated professional organization, Wedding & Portrait Photographers International, lighting equipment and a $250 gift card to Samy’s Camera.

The photo’s chiaroschuro characteristics include exaggerated light contrasts to create the illusion of volume in modeling 3-D objects such as the human body,
