At a workshop for facility management graduate students in New Delhi, Sarel Lavy, Texas A&M associate professor of [construction science] (http://cosc.arch.tamu.edu/) , discussed the field’s best practices and explored avenues for teaching and research collaborations with educators in India.
Lavy, faculty adviser for the College of Architecture’s undergraduate [Minor in Facility Management] (http://cosc.arch.tamu.edu/undergraduate/minor/) , was one of five experts in the field who headlined “International Practices in Facilities Management,” a five-day March 2018 seminar at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors School of Built Environment at Amity University.
Other event headliners included facility managers at large technology, real estate and investment firms in New Delhi.
“It was very interesting to hear them discuss issues they face at large sites with numerous employees and users,” said Lavy. “Sustainable building maintenance and operations provide challenges to facility managers worldwide, and it is no different in the New Delhi market,” said Lavy.
During workshop, Lavy learned more about facility management practices in India on field trips to CyberHub, a sprawling dining and entertainment destination located in a massive corporate park, and on a trip to the headquarters of NTT Data, a global IT firm.
