Industry luminaries interact with students on CoSci's Company Day

This spring, Texas A&M construction science students will have several opportunities to interact with visiting construction professionals as part of the Department of Construction Science’s “Company Day” program, a series of one-day, open-ended visits from construction industry leaders from the department’s [Construction Industry Advisory Council] (http://hdtv.webcam.nl/website/page1/page7/h264_streaming_video.html) .

The council is composed of construction industry luminaries who regularly advise department administrators on contemporary construction issues, modern industry practices and course content.

During the Company Day, visiting professionals can choose to meet with students in informal settings, to lecture or simply roam the Francis Hall facility and interact with students.

“It’s a way for representatives from CIAC businesses and students to meet in a relaxed, ‘come and go’ manner,” said George Eustace, the department’s industry relations coordinator.

Students are notified of the Company Day visits in advance via email and video kiosks displays.

After the success of the program’s trial run, last spring, Eustace said, “the program was expanded to 33 days for the fall 2015 semester, during which approximately 300 students met with representatives from more than 30 companies.”

This spring, 35 dates have been set aside for Company Day visits and they are available to CIAC member firm representatives on a first-come, first-served basis. The schedule starts after the department’s second spring career fair on Feb. 16.
