A series of living spaces co-designed by Miguel Roldán, adjunct professor of architecture for Texas A&M’s study abroad program in Spain, were exhibited at the Catalunya College of Architects headquarters in Barcelona.
The exhibit, featuring interior designs by [Roldán + Berengué Architects] (http://www.roldanberengue.com/) , celebrated the publication of the 100th [issue] (http://www.tccuadernos.com/tccuadernos_numero.php?id=82) of the Spanish Architecture magazine TC Cuadernos, which showcased the work of Roldán and his design partner, Mercé Berengué.
Arranged along the exhibit hall’s second floor perimeter, the installation, one viewer noted, was akin to enjoying the view of Barcelona’s historic cathedral square from a series of private balconies.
On the exhibit’s final day, the designers discussed their work, the work of visual artist [Joan Fontcuberta] (http://www.fontcuberta.com/) and the intersection between the creations of architects and artists.
Examples of the firm’s work are on display at its [website] (http://www.roldanberengue.com/) , including a design of E.I.O.5., a new public housing tower in Barcelona that led an architecture critic to [exclaim] (http://one.arch.tamu.edu/news/2011/5/19/roldan-tower/) that “it’s hard to believe this is social housing.”
Roldán is slated to lecture March 7 at Texas A&M.
