CoSci student receives award at national homebuilder confab

Academic excellence and leadership in two student groups has netted Alexandra Olheiser, a construction science major at Texas A&M, an outstanding student award from the [National Association of Home Builders] (https://www.nahb.org) .

John Courson, president and CEO of the [Home Builders Institute] (http://www.hbi.org) , presented Olheiser and other student honorees with their awards during a ceremony at the NAHB’s 2014 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas Feb. 20.

“The Outstanding Student Chapter Award winners are among the finest in construction management education today, and bode well for the building industry’s future,” he said.

Olheiser was selected for the honor because of her academic performance, her leadership role in the NAHB’s student chapter at Texas A&M, and her contributions to Texas A&M’s residential construction management competition team, which made a presentation at the international builders’ show.

She was also recognized for her service as president of [Sigma Lambda Chi] (http://www.slc-intl.org) , which provides construction science students an opportunity to be recognized locally and internationally for their academic accomplishments.

NAHB is a trade association representing more than 140,000 members involved in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction.
