Sarel Lavy
Facilities, the world’s leading scholarly journal in the facility management field, begins its fourth decade with new co-editor Sarel Lavy, associate professor of construction science at Texas A&M.
Lavy and fellow editor Joseph Lai of Hong Kong Polytechnic University were appointed to take over the journal after a worldwide search to replace Edward Finch, who held the editor's post 18 years.
“I would like to express many thanks to Eddy Finch for his years of work with the journal,” said Lavy. “Facilities would not have developed into the leading publication in the facility management field without his hard work. The journal will continue to move forward with a very strong editorial team and editorial advisory board.”
Published by Emerald, an independent research publisher, Facilities monitors innovations in theory, tools, legislation, analysis techniques and applications of new ideas in the wide spectrum of facility management. It also covers the multidisciplinary topics of people, property and process management expertise that underpin successful organizational functions in the workplace.
Lavy said he is looking forward to working with Facilities readers, reviewers, authors and editorial team members to continue to improve the publication.
In addition to focusing on facilities management, Lavy, who joined the Aggie faculty in 2005, is interested in health care and education sectors, construction engineering, maintenance, performance, life cycle costs techniques and quantitative methods in facilities management. He serves as associate director of the CRS Center for Leadership and Management in the Design and Construction Industry at the Texas A&M College of Architecture.
Lavy earned a Ph.D in 2006, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 2002 and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1999 from the Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa.
