Two CoSci undergraduates elected as Yell Leaders for 2016-17

The roar of Aggie fans at athletic contests in 2016-17 will be led by Cooper Cox and Ian Moss, Texas A&M undergraduate [construction science] (http://cosc.arch.tamu.edu/) students selected as [Yell Leaders] (http://yell.tamu.edu/) in a February 16 student vote.

“I couldn’t be more happy for the opportunity,” said Cox, a Houston native.

The pair’s one-year term as Yell Leaders begins April 21, 2016. “It’s going to be the year of a lifetime,” said Cox.

Moss, from Southlake Texas, is already part of one of Texas A&M’s most hallowed traditions as Reveille IX’s handler , a post he will hold until April 2016, when a new handler is named.

At sporting events next fall, clad in the traditional Yell Leader uniform of white button-down shirts and white pants, Cox and Moss will direct Aggie fans in a series of yells that begin with a variety of hand signals, called “pass backs.”

Once the signal is passed through the crowd, Yell Leaders signal fans to “hump it,” or lean forward with hands just above their knees and the yell begins.

Cox and Moss, along with their three fellow yell leaders, will also lead [Midnight Yells] (http://aggietraditions.tamu.edu/team/midnight.html) , which take place at Kyle Field the night before home games.

Yell Leaders attend road football games, all home basketball games, some road basketball games, and selected home and road contests of additional Aggie sporting events.

They also attend New Student Conferences, Fish Camp and additional events hosted by student and university organizations.
