Dunn’s stewardship of study abroad programs recognized

The first-rate support of international programs at Texas A&M’s College of Architecture helped Katy Dunn, an administrative assistant in the dean’s office, earn the Linda J. Todd Outstanding Support Staff Achievement Award.

“All programs she’s involved in are flawless in their planning and operations,” said Russell Reid, assistant professor of the practice, in a Todd award nomination letter.

Dunn was in Spain, assisting with the college’s study abroad venue in [Barcelona] (http://www.arch.tamu.edu/undergraduate/study-abroad/study-abroad-program/spain/) when the award was announced at the fall 2015 college faculty/staff meeting. She accepted the award at a Sept. 9 luncheon for college staff and administrators.

In addition to coordinating “minimesters” at the Soltis Center in Costa Rica each January and May, Dunn is increasing her assistance to faculty participating in other programs abroad, said Elton Abbott, associate dean for international programs & initiatives.

“She provides exceptional assistance for faculty who are planning field trips associated with study abroad programs,” he said. “In addition, faculty in all our departments have come to rely on Katy’s expertise.”

Dunn also coordinates and manages conferences, workshops, and symposiums supported by the college’s continuing education office and assists in planning for college development and student recruitment events.

The award, which includes a commemorative plaque and a $1000 cash award, is named after Linda Todd, who worked in the Department of Architecture for more than 30 years.
