Leading design practitioners and educators will discuss topics ranging from ancient Roman cities to the latest innovations in digital design at this spring’s Department of Architecture Lecture Series, to be held 5:45 p.m. in Langford C105.

Experts in land development, transportation, urban sustainability and history will share their knowledge in the spring 2017 Texas A&M Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning lecture series.

Using their digital and artistic skills, contestants vied for $5,000 in prize money by creating data-sourced concepts for a Texas A&M University campus free of physical and virtual barriers to the disabled as part of the Feb. 17-18, 2017 Diversity Accessibility Hackathon hosted by the Texas A&M College of Architecture Diversity Council.

Triseum, a video game development company headed by André Thomas, a member of the visualization faculty and director of the department’s LIVE Lab, has partnered with Texas A&M to establish the $1 million Triseum Endowed Chair of Visualization.

This semester, students in almost 50 universities are getting help with introductory calculus by playing “Variant,” a new video game developed by Triseum, a Bryan video game development company led by André Thomas, a member of the visualization faculty.

A new scholarship program established with a significant endowment by William Merriweather Peña ’42, a former Texas A&M architecture student, World War II hero, and renowned architect, will help generations of aspiring Aggie architects receive an education.

Former Aggie corpsman William Merriweather Peña '42, who led a heavy weapons platoon through dense, snow-covered European forests in the Battle of the Bulge, was presented with one of Belgium's highest honors at a Dec. 7, 2016 Rudder Theatre ceremony.
