Graduate visualization students won scholarships for their makers funded by major animation studios and former student animators. Former students at Pixar, DreamWorks Animation and Industrial Light and Magic made lists of the videos they deemed the best.

Texas A&M Vizzers worked their digital mastery in the animated martial arts flick “Kung Fu Panda 2”. Po, Master Shifu, and the Furious Five return to defend the Valley of Peace and Kung Fu itself against a new and formidable enemy in DreamWorks Animation’s 3-D sequel.

The college's Azimuth coffee shop has gained a bold, new look from a permanent installation designed by Elena Manferdini, principal of a Los Angeles firm specializing in computer-aided design of exotic forms. The structure was fabricated by students at the college's Digital Fabrication Facility.

A menagerie of phantasmal creatures realized in papier-mâché by first-year Texas A&M visualization students populated the Viz 106 design studios on the third floor of the Langford C building as the spring 2011 semester drew to an end.

Dining tables at an upcoming International Association of Lighting Designers fund-raising event will be adorned with innovative light centerpieces made by students at the University of Oregon under the direction of visiting Baker Chair Jill Mulholland, a lecturer at Texas A&M’s College of Architecture.

Texas A&M University at Qatar’s new ceremonial mace, designed by Rodney Hill, professor of architecture, debuted at commencement in Qatar May 5, 2011. “As far as I can tell from the design research I did, this is the most elaborate university mace in the world,” said Hill, who also carved mace's wood.

The glow of light sculptures designed by visualization students at Texas A&M partially lit a darkened exhibit hall in the Langford Architecture Center during a review April 11. Students led by Richard Davison, professor of visualization, designed the sculptures for the Langford C courtyard.

Nine photographers selected as finalists from more than 3,500 entries in a national contest were students in a fall 2010 digital photography class at Texas A&M taught by Glen Vigus, lecturer and senior visualization production specialist for the Department of Visualization.

Elena Manferdini, principal of Atelier Manferdini, which specializes in computer-aided design of exotic forms, visited the college March 20 – 25 as an artist in residence. In a video interview, she discusses the installation she and students designed and erected in the Azimuth coffee shop.

Winning entries in Tau Sigma Delta’s Texas A&M Student Art Competition earned their creators $50 scholarships and were displayed in a Houston gallery April 4-8. The winning pieces and the rest of the submitted work were also exhibited at the college’s Wright Gallery March 26-29.

In a room elaborately adorned with architectural installations created by Meg Jackson's design students, students from Weiling He’s studio donned their own designs, putting on a fashion show for their peers.
